App development

Apps built for your business, and ready for Apple and Google review.

We design and build mobile apps for iPhone and Android, web apps, and SaaS products. Getting an app approved is its own job, with account, privacy and listing rules that change every year. We handle both.

What we build

Three kinds of software.

Mobile apps

One codebase for iPhone and Android, built to work offline when a signal drops and to respect battery and privacy.

Web apps

Booking tools, customer portals, calculators and internal dashboards that run in any browser.

SaaS products

Subscription software with accounts, billing and support, for owners who want to turn their expertise into a product.

The approval work

What Apple and Google check before an app goes live.

Most rejections have nothing to do with the code. They come from the account, the privacy paperwork, or a listing that promises more than the app does. This is the checklist we work through on every app.

  • A developer account in the company's nameApple's Developer Program and Google Play Console both verify the business, including a D-U-N-S number and a website on the company's domain. On Google, a personal account cannot be converted to an organization account later, so the choice matters on day one.
  • Built with the current toolsApple only accepts uploads built with its current software kit, and Google requires apps and updates to target a recent Android version. Both move these lines every year, so we keep a calendar of the deadlines.
  • Privacy declarations that match the appApple's privacy manifest and App Privacy label, and Google's Data Safety form, must describe exactly what the app collects and why. A mismatch is treated more seriously than an omission.
  • Permissions explained in plain wordsLocation, camera and contacts each need a clear reason shown to the user. Background location on Android also needs a written declaration and a short video showing the disclosure screen.
  • The required web pagesA privacy policy, terms, a support page and a page where users can delete their data, all live at permanent web addresses before the app is submitted.
  • Reviewer notes and a test pathReviewers need to see the main feature work. If that takes a horse, a truck or a job site, we write instructions and record a demonstration so they can.
  • A listing that tells the truthScreenshots and descriptions that show what the app does today. Claims the app cannot back up are a common reason for rejection.

Who owns the app

Your app is published under your name, not ours.

Apple expects an app to be submitted by the business that provides it. So we publish client apps from your own developer accounts, with Painted Bear added as a team member. You own the listing, the reviews and the customer relationship from the start.

The store fees are paid to Apple and Google directly: currently 99 US dollars a year for Apple's Developer Program and a one-time 25 US dollars for Google Play.

How it runs

From idea to approved listing.

  1. Requirements

What the app must do at launch, what can wait, and what it will cost to build and to run.

  2. Accounts and paperwork

Developer accounts, D-U-N-S number, privacy policy and support pages started early, because they take the longest.

  3. Build and test

Working builds on your own phone through TestFlight and Google Play testing tracks, with feedback rounds.

  4. Submit and launch

Store listings, privacy forms, reviewer notes and submission, then updates on a schedule.

Our own app

Turrot, the drive log for carriage drivers

We are taking Turrot through this exact process for its launch on November 26, 2026. It tracks drives over GPS, reads each horse's gait live, and keeps recording under tree cover with no signal. Everything on this page comes from that work.
